Important Notice — Relocation and Leave of Absence
As of September 1, 2026, my practice has relocated to West Kelowna, BC. During the relocation, Telus disconnected the firm's landline and fax number, as those services were not available at the new location. A new phone number and landline are expected to be connected by September 23, 2026.
I will also be taking a leave of absence from September 15, 2026 to October 30, 2026. During this time I will not be answering emails or accepting service of any documents. Another lawyer, Navdeep Kaur Virk, will be monitoring my emails and attending any of my appearances.

Currently Fully Booked
Smallman Family Law is fully booked and is not accepting new client matters at this time.
We expect to be taking new inquiries again on or around November 15, 2026 — a little after the leave of absence ends, to allow time to work through the files already waiting. The inquiry form has been turned off until then so that no message goes unanswered. Please do check back after that date.
Need help before then?
If your matter is urgent or time-sensitive, please do not wait. Family law matters can have deadlines, and the following British Columbia services can help you find assistance now.
Lawyer Referral Service (Access Pro Bono)
Connects you with a BC lawyer for a low-cost initial consultation.
Legal Aid BC
Free legal help for family matters if you meet their eligibility criteria.
Family Law in BC
Free guides, forms and self-help resources for separation, parenting and support.
VictimLinkBC
Confidential 24/7 support if you are experiencing family violence.
These are independent organizations. Listing them here is not a referral to, or endorsement of, any particular lawyer or service, and contacting them does not create a solicitor-client relationship with Smallman Family Law.

If you plan to get in touch once we reopen, gathering these in the meantime will make the first meeting go further.
- A brief summary of your situation
- Key dates (separation date, marriage date, etc.)
- Any existing court orders or agreements
